On the Commercial Road

Lots of work going in at the moment into sorting programme advertising for the new season ahead of the AFC Dons game.

It is going well but if anyone can help us make a few calls over the next few days liaising with the advertisers to obtain artwork etc please contact me.  Also if you think there is anyone else we should speak to about an ad again let me know.

We don’t have a sponsor yet for this season but several discussions ongoing.  Fingers crossed for a positive result here soon – but no promises.

I’m delighted that Roy Couch is helping out with matchball donors etc and we are busily trying to fill in the grids for match sponsorship, matchballs and the kit grid.  Full details are on the website.

As always it is all about resources – and you may have seen our adverts on the website or in the local paper that we are trying to find people to fill various positions including a commercial manager.  This is a crucial appointment for us and hopefully you will see it on the Non League Daily website under their situations vacant bit (not up yet) – if you are interested please let me know.

Book review

I’ve just finished reading a really interesting book called The Damned United.  The book is a fictional account of the 44 days Brian Clough spent as manager of Leeds United.  Written as if inside Clough’s head, the book contrasts his time at Leeds with his amazing period at Derby.

I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to read a different type of football book.  Of course you can get it at Amazon through the ‘Buy at Wealdstone’ service.

Actually while on the subject, it is worth looking at the ‘Buy At’ site.  There are all sorts of household and popular brands that contribute some of their proceeds back to the club, so if you buy online – try doing it through this service, it costs you the same and the club benefits.
