Killing the game?

Forgive a rare Premier League rant.

I read in the paper this morning how Peter Crouch is unhappy being the 5th choice striker at Anfield this season. Regardless of whether or not he is right to be unhappy having five top strikers seems way over the top to me.

I thought the prevailing wisdom was to have four at the top level but now clearly it’s five. Torres, Kuyt, Vorinin, Babel and Crouch.

Where does it stop? How big to squads have to be? Does having all these millions mean you are actually buying to stop other clubs getting players?

Although he did play today in Toulouse I guess there is one English international striker who won’t be getting too much playing time this season.
