A moment of truth?

I think Saturday’s game is a big one – a moment of truth perhaps.

Our league form has been good for a long time, the attitude has been great and allied to some excellent football we have done well. But two defeats in the last three is a concern although the Horsham performance was satisfactory.

However, Tuesday night at Carshalton was disappointing for everyone. No problems with the effort, but the outstanding Keita Karamoko aside it was difficult ot pick out anyone who would be satisfied with their performance.

More worrying is the injury situation. Billy Hawes was badly fouled, has an operation today and may be out for the season with a knee injury, Carl Martin is out with a hamstring problem (3-4 weeks?), Lee O’Leary has a groin injury that might keep him out for a while and Lee Chappell also picked up a knock. And to think that 3 days earlier we were thinking how good it was to have everyone available.  And by the way Dean Papali is injured as well and has hardly played at Burnham.

Too add to it we currently have 5 players one booking away from a ban. The squad is thin and there isn’t much money available. But it isn’t all doom and gloom – I believe as much in these players now as I did 2 weeks ago after we beat Harrow. Hopefully we win on Saturday and the Carshalton performance will have just been a blip.

By the way, whoever said on the mailing list/forum that Carshalton weren’t a good team? Rubbish, they just beat Hendon 5-0 and we thought Hendon were the best team we’ve played this season. Hendon say Carshalton are. You make your own mind up.
