Saturday was the last day of the regular season but two games stood out as containing more incident than you might see in the previous 41. Check out the video from the Tonbridge – Dover game here. The first half didn’t finish until nearly 4.30 and included two red cards for players (including the Tonbridge keeper who was sent off at our place in the first game of the season), both managers being sent off for squaring up to each other, a Dover player swallowing his tongue after taking a ball flush in the face (fortunately he was fine after) and two goals.
However this game was nothing compared to the Ryman Div One North title decider between East Thurrock and Aveley, well worth reading the report here (probably more than once). I’m not sure I’ve ever heard of a title being won in such dramatic style (Michael Thomas doesn’t hold a candle to this one) and perhaps this is even more dramatic than our Div 3 title win at Northwood a few years ago.
